In our effort to continue to support women in sport, we are excited to announce our partnership with the newly founded Burraneer Women’s Rugby Club and adding them to our Female Champions program. Workplace Law's Director & CEO, Shane Koelmeyer is also a part of the Club's inaugural Board.
Last week, Burraneer Women’s Rugby Club released a press statement announcing the partnership with Workplace Law. It would be great if you could take a moment to read the Club's press release (below) about this exciting development for women's rugby.
Burraneer Women’s Rugby Club (BWRC) is pleased to announce Workplace Law as the inaugural and founding sponsor in support of our Rugby Sevens and XV’s Women’s Programs for the 2022 season.
The announcement comes as a major boost to BWRC in providing some much-needed stability following an interrupted period of competition (due to COVID-19) and establishing the Club in 2022, with a central focus around the development and growth of women’s rugby in Sydney.
Club President Madison Anderson shared, “We are so grateful to Workplace Law for their support for our newly founded Club. We are looking at innovative ways to give back to the girls and our local community, by working with likeminded brands that share the values we hold in high regard. Workplace Law embody everything we stand for as a Club, and we are excited about what’s to come.”
With championship winning players and coaching staff at the helm of BWRC, Workplace Law is excited to add BWRC to their ‘Female Champions’ Program'.
Workplace Law CEO Shane Koelmeyer said “We are very proud to be a foundational sponsor of BWRC. The purpose of our ‘Female Champions’ Program’ is to empower elite female athletes and support the Clubs that genuinely value female participation. We want to see the players be given the right ‘high performance’ environment to excel on-field. Equally as important, we want to help BWRC to be the ‘standard’ when it comes to providing a caring and ‘team-first’ culture where players learn to care for each other as people not just players.”
Significantly, Workplace Law’s sponsorship involves, what the BWRC board believe to be a first for women’s Club rugby, the removal of a significant barrier to entry and participation by substantially reducing player registration fees.
“The playing group are the Board’s primary focus, and we are working hard to identify what they need in order to build a successful high-performance program from the ground up. With Workplace Law’s contribution we’re able to reduce the Club registration fees for Burraneer’s foundation playing group which is a huge step in the right direction to breaking down barriers for women to play,” continued Anderson.
“When we shared the fantastic news the players, they were overwhelmed with gratitude. We cannot thank Workplace Law Directors, Shane and Athena enough for their generosity to allow for us to challenge the norm for women in sport.”
