A primary objective of anti-discrimination law is the elimination of discrimination against persons in the workplace. Such discrimination may occur on the basis of (for example) race, sex, disability, age, or sexuality.
At Workplace Law we understand the importance of creating and maintaining a work environment free from discrimination and harassment, and we regularly assist our clients in this area in the following ways:
- the development of anti-discrimination and anti-harassment policies and procedures.
- the implementation of anti-discrimination and anti-harassment policies and procedures, including training managers and staff.
We assist employers to manage liability arising from discriminatory conduct or behaviour by their staff towards a customer, client or member of the public. This area of vicarious liability of employers for the acts of their employees requires careful management and monitoring by employers. Our advice and training is designed to assist employers in this area.
Our team are well-versed in Federal and State anti-discrimination laws, and regularly provide advice to assist our clients in responding to discrimination complaints across all jurisdictions.
We also conduct training on the identification, management, and prevention of discrimination and harassment in the workplace. This training can be delivered in a number of ways from on site seminars, workshops, teleconferences and podcasts.
Workplace Law can also conduct workplace investigations to assist employers in the timely and confidential assessment and resolution of discrimination complaints.
