Associate
Amanda joined Workplace Law in May 2007 as a Graduate-at-Law, having previous experience in the areas of workers compensation, administrative law and as an Associate to a Senior Member at the Administrative Appeals Tribunal. Amanda is now an Associate at Workplace Law.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Laws (Macquarie University).
- Bachelor of Commerce - Economics and Finance (University of New South Wales).
- Masters of Labour Law & Relations (University of Sydney)
Relevant Experience:
Amanda advises employers on a variety of matters, including the drafting of employment contracts and policies and procedures, Modern Award obligations, performance management and termination of employment.
Amanda also represents employers in unfair dismissal and general protection applications and participates in conciliation conferences before Fair Work Australia.
Amanda also assists employers with workers compensation matters before the NSW Workers Compensation Commission - including the preparing of dispute notices, Commission documents and representing employers and insurers in telephone conferences and instructing Counsel at Conciliation / Arbitration.
Amanda advises Scheme Agents and employers on liability issues for workers compensation claims. This also involves advising on the best strategy to manage injured workers and investigating claims to ensure that the right liability decisions are made.
Amanda has experience in assisting employers to defend prosecutions under occupational health and safety legislation.
Amanda’s experience also includes advising employers in regards to discrimination complaints in both State and Federal jurisdictions.
